As many of you know, this weekend was spent in Louisville, Kentucky, as that was the location of the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon. While the marathon recap will come a wee bit later, I’d like to go back and quickly recap the other events of the weekend, namely, where we ate and
chugged sipped bourbon.
So, let’s do that, shall we?
Restaurant Recommendation of the Weekend: This is a tough one. Saturday night’s dinner was spent at Doc Crow’s where we ate and drank to our heart’s (and stomach’s) content. Not only does this place have pretty good ‘cue, but it has an extensive bourbon list. Sold. Oh, and also a giant man-burger consisting of a ½ pound of beef, pulled pork, brisket, fried green tomatoes, onion rings, and a fried egg. Yeah. Challenge extended.
Sunday brunch was held at Lynn’s Paradise Cafewhere I finally consumed a Kentucky Hot Brown. And it was stellar. And gooey. And cheesy. Other folks at the table opted for breakfast goodies consisting of french toast the size of my face, cheese grits, omelets, biscuits large enough to feed a family of four, and ham steak. So, go to there. The end.
No. of Bourbons consumed: Three. A little less than I wanted, but at least I consumed bourbons from different distilleries.
And that brings me to…
Bourbon Recommendation of the Weekend: Pappy Van Winkle 15 year. His Lordship opted for this at Doc Crow’s, thus making him the winner of delicious booze. Quite possibly one of the smoothest bourbons I have had the pleasure of tasting.
All in all, a successful weekend in the great city of Louisville. I will definitely be back for more celebrating, camaraderie, and bourbon.
Stay tuned for the nitty gritty recap.
